Bhopal, Aug 27 (UNI) With the steep 50 per cent Trump tariffs on Indian goods coming into effect from today, coinciding with the beginning of the ‘Ganesh Utsav’ and the festive season in India, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has appealed to the people to promote swadeshi goods.
He said promoting swadeshi would encourage small traders, and help in moving towards building an Atmanirbhar Madhya Pradesh and Atmanirbhar Bharat in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While extending greetings of the Ganesh Utsav, the CM also emphasized that idols should be made primarily of clay and paper pulp, while the use of Plaster of Paris — which poses environmental damage — should be discouraged.
Dr Yadav urged the citizens to use indigenous products in the making of Ganesh idols and decorations of tableaux.
He said that people should use domestically made clothes and decorative materials in public religious events as well as household rituals.
