MP CM Dr. Mohan Yadav unveils dairy revolution plan

  • New horizons for farmers

Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced a landmark collaboration aimed at doubling the income of dairy farmers and significantly boosting milk production across Madhya Pradesh. Under a five-year agreement between the MP State Cooperative Dairy Federation, affiliated milk unions, and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), a massive expansion of the state’s dairy infrastructure is underway.

In the presence of Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, the collaboration was formalized on Sunday, marking a major milestone in the state’s dairy development. Dr. Yadav emphasized that milk collection centers will be established in every gram panchayat, alongside the expansion of milk unions’ processing capacities and an increase in cooperative committees.

Currently, MP has 6,000 milk societies, which will grow to 9,000, covering nearly 18,000 villages. Daily milk collection is projected to rise from 10.5 lakh kg to 20 lakh kg, while NDDB-supported milk procurement will jump from 1.3 lakh liters to 3.7 lakh liters per day. Processing capacity will scale up from 18 lakh to 30 lakh liters per day.

With a planned investment of Rs 1,500 crore over the next five years, the initiative is expected to raise the annual income of dairy farmers from Rs 1,700 crore to Rs 3,500 crore. Dr. Yadav highlighted that this aligns with the state’s 2023 resolution to strengthen the Sanchi brand and ensure fair milk prices.

The NDDB will continue to support Sanchi’s development as a nationally recognized brand without altering its identity. Management fees and consultancy charges for infrastructure development will be waived, and a grievance redressal system will be implemented for dairy farmers.

“This is not just a contract—it’s a step toward a white revolution in Madhya Pradesh,” said CM Yadav, affirming the government’s commitment to rural prosperity through dairy empowerment.
