Dubai, (UNI) India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel praised Shivam Dube for his all-round performance in India’s Asia Cup 2025 final win over Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium.
Morkel said, “I thought the guys summed up the conditions of the ball quite well. It was a nice opportunity for Shivam Dube to take that first over and responsibility, and he set the tone beautifully. And what a way to finish it with the bat.”
Highlighting the team’s spin attack, he added, “The spinners through the middle were certainly brilliant, and Shivam did a terrific job.” On using Dube with the new ball, Morkel explained, “We discussed it before the tournament. With Hardik injured in the previous game, Shivam had to step up, and he did that beautifully.”
Speaking on team preparations, Morkel noted, “Our training sessions are very focused. The guys know it’s not hard to get ready for the games. With the heat in Dubai and many back-to-back matches, managing recovery was key.”
He concluded, “Going into the final, there was a lot on the line. The team had to calm nerves, and experience showed towards the end. Shivam’s partnership with Tilak Varma deep in the innings was crucial.”
Shivam Dube’s impactful bowling and finishing knock were instrumental in India’s fifth consecutive Asia Cup triumph.
