MLA Choudhary urges CM to act to prevent crop fires

Bhopal: Indian National Congress national secretary and former Kalapipal MLA Kunal Choudhary has written to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, urging immediate steps to protect standing and harvested crops from fire incidents across the state.

In his letter, Choudhary stated that wheat and other crops are currently being harvested in several districts, including the Kalapipal Assembly constituency, and in many places the harvested produce remains stored in fields. With rising temperatures and frequent sparking in overhead electricity lines, incidents of crop fires have been increasing, often destroying farmers’ hard work within minutes.

He cited a recent incident in Tilawad village of the Kalapipal constituency, where nearly 100 bighas of wheat crop were reduced to ashes, causing losses worth several lakh rupees and wiping out a year’s effort of farmers.

Choudhary urged the government to temporarily suspend agricultural power supply from 9 am to 5 pm to prevent fire accidents caused by electrical sparks.
