Lucknow, Sep 12 (UNI) One of India’s leading leather exporters, Mirza International Group, has come under the scanner of the Income Tax Department. In a coordinated crackdown, the department launched simultaneous raids on over 45 locations linked to the company across Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Uttarakhand, and Kolkata.
According to sources, a large cache of documents, laptops, and mobile phones has been seized during the raids. These materials are expected to provide crucial evidence related to tax evasion and financial irregularities.
In Kanpur, multiple teams of the department remained active for several hours, conducting extensive searches at various premises, including Civil Lines, Parvati Bangla Road, Gwaltoli, Jajmau, and Mall Road. Raids were also carried out at five tanneries and the Euro Footwear factory located in Unnao. Employees were reportedly stopped at the gates and not allowed to enter during the operation.
Mirza Group and its associated industrial units are spread in Sadar area. These include Unit One in Akrampur Industrial Area, Unit Two in Magrawara Nehrubagh and Mirza Group Mirza International Unit in Lucknow Bypass Dahi Industrial Area. Apart from this, two to three units are associate units with co-partnership. Sources said that on Thursday, a joint team of Income Tax Department along with police force reached all the industrial units with dozens of vehicles to conduct raids at around 6:30 pm.
As soon as the Income Tax team reached Mirza Unit One, Two, Three, they closed the gates of all the units. Apart from Mirza Group factories located in Akrampur, Magrawara and Dahi Industrial Area, the team also took action against Olive and Gym Pack, associate factories of Mirza Group located in Akrampur.
The investigative teams thoroughly examined finished goods, packing materials, export orders, Input Tax Credit (ITC) records, and documents related to raw material procurement at the tanneries.
The raids continued till late night but no official statement has been released yet by the Income Tax Department.
