New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) A late-night hit-and-run by a Mercedes car in the Vasant Kunj area on Saturday claimed the life of a 23-year-old man and left two others injured.
A senior police official said they received a call about an accident at PS Vasant Kunj North at around 2:33 am. The caller reported a road accident opposite a mall on Nelson Mandela Marg.
Upon arrival, police found a Mercedes G63 in an accidental condition and three injured persons, all employees of a restaurant in Ambience Mall, lying at the spot. The injured, aged 23, 35, and 23, were promptly shifted to the hospital.
During a medical examination, 23-year-old Rohit, a resident of Chamoli, Uttarakhand, was declared brought dead. The other two are currently undergoing treatment.
The driver of the car, identified as 29-year-old Shivam, a resident of Karol Bagh, was arrested. He was driving the vehicle with his wife and elder brother at the time.
Preliminary enquiry suggests the vehicle lost balance due to a diversion, hitting a pole where the three victims were standing at an auto stand. Shivam was reportedly returning home after attending a wedding. The car belongs to his friend, Abhishek.
Further investigations into the matter are ongoing.
