- Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0
Bhopal: The School Education Department will launch a large-scale plantation campaign across Madhya Pradesh schools starting June 5, under the banner Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0. The initiative, driven by Eco Clubs, aims to plant 50 lakh saplings across the state by September 30, with each district targeting the plantation of one lakh saplings.
The campaign seeks to raise environmental awareness among students and foster sensitivity towards sustainable development. It also symbolically honors motherhood while reinforcing the nation’s commitment to environmental protection. Priority will be given to planting indigenous species, with educational sessions planned to inform students about different plant types and their benefits.
Detailed action plans to be prepared
District Education Officers (DEOs) have been instructed to prepare detailed action plans, considering school strength and available land. A district-level committee, chaired by the Collector and including officials like the Divisional Forest Officer and community members, will oversee implementation. DEOs will serve as nodal officers, supported by District Project Coordinators.
Plantation will take place in school premises, nearby roads, public spaces, and around Amrit Sarovars. Saplings will carry plaques featuring the student’s and mother’s names. QR codes may be attached to provide digital botanical information.
Morning assemblies from June 15 will include talks on the importance of plants. Classes 9–12 will be supervised by DEOs, while classes 6–8 will be monitored by District Project Coordinators. All preparations are to be completed by June 4.
