Massive Drug Bust in Sidhi: 1,180 Bottles of Banned Syrup Seized

Smuggler Arrested; Contraband Worth over Rs 12 Lakh Impounded

Sidhi: In a major crackdown on medical drug abuse under the directive of Inspector General Gaurav Rajput, Semariya Police have successfully intercepted a drug smuggler and seized a significant cache of banned cough syrup. The operation resulted in the recovery of goods worth over ₹12.50 lakh.

Acting on a tip-off about a Scorpio carrying illegal narcotics, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Kedar Paroha strategically set up a blockade. After an initial evasion attempt near Mirchwar, the team successfully cornered the vehicle and arrested the accused, Suraj Tiwari (28) from Shahdol district, near Tilmandadi village.

Total Seizure Details

Police confiscated 1,180 bottles of Onerex cough syrup valued at approximately Rs 2.37 lakh. The seizure also included the Scorpio SUV (estimated at Rs 10 lakh) and a mobile phone. The total value of the confiscated contraband and vehicle stands at Rs 12,52,770.

The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS and Drugs Control Acts. The Semariya Police are currently interrogating Tiwari to trace the source and intended destination of the narcotic syrup, underscoring the administration’s resolve to curb drug trafficking and protect local youth.
