New Delhi, Oct 17 (UNI) International singer and actress Mary Millben is commemorating five years since her virtual performance of the Hindu hymn ‘Om Jai Jagdish Hare’, which first premiered during Diwali in 2020.
To celebrate the occasion, the performance will be re-released across all of her social media platforms on October 20.
Quoting scripture ahead of the re-release, Millben wrote on X, “God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. Diwali centralizes light over darkness. If we claim fellowship with God, we must live lives that reflect His light, lives of truth, love, and righteousness.”
The original 2020 performance was filmed in Sedona, Arizona, in collaboration with various artists and organizations. It quickly gained widespread acclaim for its cultural sensitivity and artistic beauty, bridging spiritual traditions through music.
A former White House appointee under President George W. Bush, Millben has performed for five consecutive US presidents and numerous world leaders. She has also served as a cultural ambassador, using music as a tool for diplomacy and cross-cultural connection.
Earlier this year, Millben sang the US national anthem at the India vs. USA T20 World Cup match in New York. In 2023, she performed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official state visit to Washington. She also made history in 2022 as the first American and African American artist invited to perform at India’s 75th Independence Day celebrations.
Audiences can revisit her stirring performance of “Om Jai Jagdish Hare” when it re-airs on October 20.
