- Husband, mother-in-law threatened her not tell anyone about it
Bhopal: A woman from Berasia, who entered into a love marriage, reported a harrowing incident that occurred just three days after her wedding. According to police station in-charge Arun Sharma, the 20-year-old victim alleged that her brother-in-law raped her while under the influence of alcohol in the absence of her husband. Upon informing her husband about the assault, she was met with resistance. Husband told her to remain silent. Additionally, when she confided in her mother-in-law, she was threatened with expulsion from the household if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
Following the initial assault, the victim faced further attempts of sexual violence from her brother-in-law. Feeling increasingly unsafe, she fled her in-laws’ home and sought help at a local police station, where she filed a complaint. The police have since registered a case of rape against her brother-in-law and have also named her husband and mother-in-law as co-accused. As of now, the accused have not been apprehended.
Woman sexually abused on pretext of marriage
In a separate incident reported by Sukhi Sewania police, a 27-year-old woman, recently widowed, became involved with a man named Arvind Jain. After establishing a relationship, Jain allegedly pretended to marry her on April 19 by applying vermilion on her hair parting and subsequently began to sexually exploit her. After enduring ten days of abuse, the woman was reportedly thrown out of his house. She approached the police on Tuesday night.
