- Sundarja and Noor Jahan varieties are special attraction
Bhopal: State Level Mango Festival 8.0 has started from Tuesday at the NABARD regional office complex located at Bittan Market in the capital Bhopal. This event will continue till June 14. More than 15 varieties of natural and chemical-free mangoes brought from the tribal districts of Madhya Pradesh are on display.
Sundarja’ mango suitable for sugar patients
The GI tagged Sundarja mango brought from Govindgarh area of ????Rewa district is a special attraction. This mango is fiber-free and considered suitable for sugar patients. Its sweetness and quality make it special. NABARD Chief General Manager C. Sarasvi said that the main objective of this event is to make the tribal families economically capable, strengthen their livelihood and develop marketing skills.
Rare Noor Jahan mango weighs over 1 kg
The special thing about this year’s festival is that for the first time the rare Noor Jahan mango has been made available for sale. The price of this mango is 2,000 per kg and its weight is more than 1.1 kg. Noor Jahan mango is produced only in the Kattiwada area of Alirajpur district, where it is cultivated on only 10 trees. This mango is so heavy that it can fall even with a light wind, so its cultivation is a challenge.
Among other varieties on display during the festival are Mallika, Amrapali, Malda, Kesar, Dussehri, Langra, Chaunsa, Totapuri, Narangi, Sindoori, Rajapuri, among others.
