London, July 29 (UNI) India’s Smriti Mandhana has slipped to the No. 2 position in the ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings for batswomen after being overtaken by England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, who reclaimed the top spot following her strong showing in the recent series against India.
Despite Mandhana accumulating a respectable 115 runs across the three ODIs, Sciver-Brunt’s series-topping 160 runs, including a gritty 98 in the final match at Chester-le-Street, proved decisive in tipping the balance. This is Sciver-Brunt’s first time back at No.1 in 2025, having last held the position in July 2023. India, however, won the series 2-1.
While Mandhana drops a notch, India’s other key batswomen saw gains in the latest rankings update. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur surged 10 places to 11th, and Jemimah Rodrigues climbed two spots to reach 13th, thanks to consistent contributions during the series.
Elsewhere, Ireland’s Orla Prendergast continued her impressive all-round growth during the home ODI series against Zimbabwe. She jumped 12 places to a joint 22nd in the batting rankings after scoring an unbeaten 67 in the second match in Belfast. Her bowling in the same game saw her move up 10 spots to 33rd among bowlers.
Prendergast also climbed to 10th in the ODI all-rounders’ rankings, which continues to be led by Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner. Ireland’s Arlene Kelly, too, made progress, rising four places to joint 30th in the ODI bowling list following a two-wicket effort in the series opener.
In T20Is, Ireland captain Gaby Lewis made her mark by moving up four spots to 14th among batters, courtesy of successive half-centuries against Zimbabwe in Dublin.
On the bowling front, England’s Sophie Ecclestone and Australia’s Gardner maintain their stronghold as the top two ranked players in the ODI format.
