- CM Yadav sacks 10 top officers over misconduct and public spat
Bhopal, MP – In a significant administrative overhaul on Saturday, June 1, 2025, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav ordered the immediate removal of ten senior police officers, including the Superintendents of Police (SPs) for Katni and Datia, and the Inspector General (IG) and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Chambal Range. The Chief Minister announced the drastic action on X (formerly Twitter), labeling the officers’ conduct as “deplorable for public service.”
The stern decision comes in the wake of two prominent controversies. Katni SP Abhijeet Ranjan was facing serious allegations of disrupting DSP Khyati Mishra’s family. Reports claimed Ranjan was involved in a relationship with Mishra, leading her husband, Tehsildar Shailendra Sharma, to publicly accuse Ranjan of harassment. Despite these serious allegations, no concrete action had been taken for six months. The situation escalated recently when Sharma’s family members were allegedly assaulted while attempting to retrieve belongings from Mishra’s official residence, leading to police intervention and Sharma’s forced removal. This entire episode cast a shadow over the police department’s functioning.
Meanwhile, a public and heated argument reportedly erupted among the Datia SP, IG, and DIG over security arrangements during an airport inauguration event in Datia on Saturday. The event was attended by Datia’s Minister-in-Charge Indal Singh Kansana and former Home Minister Narottam Mishra. Chief Minister Yadav took grave exception to this public display of discord among high-ranking officers. In his X post, CM Yadav explicitly stated that the officers’ conduct did not align with the standards of public service, necessitating their immediate removal.

* Pramod Verma, IG Sagar Zone, has been moved to IG Jabalpur Zone.
* Sushant Kumar Saxena, IG Chambal Zone Morena, is now IG (AAVI) at Police Headquarters Bhopal.
* Chandrashekhar Solanki, IG Visbal Indore Range, has been appointed IG Sagar Zone with additional charge as Director, JNPA Sagar.
* Sachin Kumar Atulkar, DIG/IG Chhindwara and Additional Charge Jabalpur Zone, is now IG Chambal Zone Morena.
* Kumar Saurabh, DIG/IG Chambal Range Morena, has been appointed IG Ajak Police Headquarters Bhopal.
* Sunil Kumar Jain, DIG Range Sagar, is now DIG Chambal Range Morena.
* Virendra Kumar Mishra, SP Datia, has been transferred as Assistant IG at Police Headquarters Bhopal.
* Suraj Verma, Commandant First Battalion Visbal Indore, has been made SP Katni.
* Abhijeet Ranjan, former SP Katni, has been transferred as Assistant IG at Police Headquarters Bhopal.
* Abhinav Vishwakarma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-2), Urban Police District Indore, has been appointed SP Katni.
