Hyderabad, Nov 27 (UNI) A massive fire broke out at the SSV Fab Industries polythene bag manufacturing facility in the Jeedimetla Industrial area, causing extensive damage and sparking a firefighting operation until midnight.
According to police, on Tuesday afternoon the fire started on the third floor of the building and quickly spread to all floors, engulfing the entire structure. The presence of large quantities of chemical drums on-site, which exploded during the blaze, intensified the fire and made it difficult to control.
Ten fire tenders from various parts of Hyderabad, along with private water tankers and water board support, were deployed to tackle the inferno. Despite their efforts, intense heat and thick smoke hampered operations.
Eyewitnesses reported flames reaching a height of 100 meters, with heat radiating up to 200 meters.
With the fire intensity, the entire building collapsed. While the exact financial loss is yet to be confirmed, preliminary assessments suggest significant damage to the property and materials stored within.
Over 100 workers were present at the time of the incident, but timely evacuation ensured no casualties, preventing a larger disaster.
A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway, police added.
