Major accident averted as fire breaks out at Hotel Sayaji’s store room

Bhopal: A major disaster was narrowly avoided on Monday morning after a fire erupted in the store room of Hotel Sayaji, located near Sair Sapata. The blaze, which reportedly started due to a short circuit in a generator, sent thick plumes of smoke into the sky, sparking momentary panic.

Hotel staff first noticed smoke billowing from the storage area, which housed a large quantity of tent equipment, linens, and upholstery. While employees immediately began initial firefighting efforts, fire engines from Mata Mandir and nearby stations rushed to the scene. It took firefighters nearly an hour of intense effort to bring the flames under control and prevent them from spreading to the main building.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported. Although the hotel was occupied by many guests at the time, the store room’s location—situated approximately 50 meters away from the guest rooms—ensured their safety. While the storage materials were reduced to ashes, the swift coordination between hotel staff and the fire department successfully contained the emergency before it could escalate.
