Main witness in murder case slits throat with glass

  • Claims police involvement

Bhopal: In Chhola Mandir area, a dramatic turn unfolded on Wednesday night when Raja Khatik, the main witness in the Amit Verma murder case, attempted to slit his own throat using a piece of glass. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where his condition is now stable. Raja later released a video on social media, accusing TI Sureshchandra Nagar and his team of trying to kill him.

The police dismissed his claims as false, stating that Raja injured himself to avoid interrogation. He was brought in for questioning related to the June 29 murder of Amit Verma. Investigation revealed that the intended target was Raja, but a misfire led to Amit’s death. The accused, Naseem Banne and Wasim Khan, were allegedly involved in a dispute with Raja over hawala robbery money.

Wasim was recently arrested, and Raja was to be interrogated alongside him. To avoid this, he harmed himself as he got out of the police vehicle. His family created a scene at the hospital, alleging police misconduct.

Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra said that the SIT is probing all angles and ten people have been arrested so far in the murder investigation.
