Nagpur, Nov 1 (UNI) Senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar today alleged that the MahaYuti government in Maharashtra was formed through ‘vote theft’, claiming that the Election Commission was acting like an ally of the ruling party.
Speaking to reporters before leaving Nagpur for Mumbai to participate in the Maha Vikas Aghadi’s (MVA) Satyamarch over alleged irregularities in the voter list, Wadettiwar said the Congress would take part in the protest despite the absence of party flags and banners.
“Senior leaders from our party will join the march. It is not necessary for everyone to be present,” he said.
Wadettiwar accused the ruling alliance of manipulating the electoral process.
“It has now become clear that this government was formed through vote theft. They misled the people with lies and false promises. We will expose this deception and ensure every account is settled,” he asserted.
He further alleged large-scale discrepancies in the voter rolls, including instances where hundreds of names were registered under a single address.
“How can 400 people live in one house? This has been done at someone’s direction. When our delegation questioned the Election Commission, they had no answers and acted as if they were defending the government,” Wadettiwar said.
Calling for transparency in elections, the Congress leader demanded immediate correction of the voter lists.
“If the Election Commission continues to act like a partner of the BJP-led government, it will put democracy in danger,” he warned.
“Through this march, we are giving a clear message if the irregularities are not corrected, we will not remain silent. The Commission and the government must be held accountable.”
Meanwhile, Wadettiwar also supported the statement of Congress president Mallikarjun, saying, “The Sangh is an unregistered organization, looting money.”
After the demand by Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge to ban the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Wadettiwar has given strong support to this demand.
He launched a sharp attack on the Sangh, saying, “This (RSS) is an unregistered organisation and it is looting money.”
He added that there is no public information about where this looted money has been kept.
He also accused the Sangh of creating division in society in the name of religion.
