Mahavir Jyanti is a most significant day for the Jain community. The festival marks the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir, the last & 24th Tirthankara in Jain Religion. On March 29th festival was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm in Vidisha.
During the day, most members of the Jain community visited Jain Temples. Under Digamber Jain samaj call, Sakal jain samaj Procession was taken out where all jains including swetamber jains were present. Swetamber jains Sthanak wasi sangh performed samayak and Bhaktamber. Swtamber Jains also taken out Procession which passed through Bazar and then concluded in Swetamber Jain Temple.
Large number of Swetamber Jain members were present in the procession.Many devotees engaged in some sort of charitable act also. Mahavir International Members assembled at Dr. Vijay Jains’ residence and distributed water-pots in the colony.
Water bodies have reduced considerably and with it the source of drinking water for animals and birds has come down drastically in Vidisha. Mahavir International called local residents to keep pots filled with drinking water for thirsty birds and animals.
Those who were present in the program were International Secretary Dr. Shantilal Pitaliya, Vimal Prakash Taran, Rajesh Jalori, Dr. Vijay Jain and many others.
