Indore, Sept 2 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) has concluded at the Holkar Stadium here in the presence of Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and witnessed the unopposed election of his son Mahanaaryaman to the post of MPCA President.
Born on November 17, 1995 in Gwalior, Mahanaaryaman is the youngest person to occupy the post. Sources said that in the new executive formed yesterday, Vineet Sethia has been appointed as the Vice President, Sudhir Asnani as Secretary, Arundhati Kirkire as Joint Secretary and Sanjeev Dua as Treasurer.
Mahanaaryaman has been into cricketing activities for the past three years. In 2022, he was made Gwalior Division Cricket Association Vice-President and life member of MPCA. He started the Madhya Pradesh Cricket League in Gwalior.
The Scindia family has long held supremacy over MPCA. Erstwhile union minister Madhavrao Scindia was MPCA head from 1982 to 2001. His son Jyotiraditya assumed the post from 2004 to 2019. In 2010, Kailash Vijayvargiya challenged Jyotiraditya but the latter emerged victorious by 70 votes. In the 2012 election also the Vijayvargiya panel tasted defeat.
Sandhya Agarwal, Prasoon Kanmadikar, Rajiv Risodkar and Brijesh Rana have been included in the Managing Committee. Earlier, journalist and Scindia family confidante Abhilash Khandekar was elected unopposed as President.
Khandekar was elected President in 2019. Reminiscing his tenure, he told UNI, “During those six years, the MPCA won the Ranji Trophy after 70 years and work was done on the infrastructure of cricket stadiums.”
Prior to the AGM, Scindia and Mahanaaryaman offered worship at the Khajrana Ganesh Temple. State Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat was also present.
