Maha: Three brothers drown in Chitri river

Kolhapur, (UNI) In a tragic incident, three brothers from Pune, including a lawyer, drowned in Paroli Bandhara (weir) on the Chitri River, near Ajara Tehsil town in the district, on Sunday evening.
According to sources in Ajara police, the deceased, identified as Philip Anton Kuntinho (40), Loyd Poskon Kuntinho (35) and Adv Rozirio Anton Kuntinho, a Christian family from Pune, had come for celebrating the Christmas festival in Ajara. They went to swimming at the nearby Paroli Bandhara on the Chitri River, along with friends and relatives.
While swimming, all three brothers drowned, as they failed to gauge the depth of the water. Their friends and relatives who were watching them failed to rescue them.
After receiving information of incident, the Ajara police rushed to the spot and fished out all three bodies from the water.
Further investigation is on, sources added.
