Bhopal: The statewide “Maha Kranti Andolan” organised under the banner of All Department Outsourced, Temporary, Part-Time and Gram Panchayat Employees Joint Front, Madhya Pradesh witnessed a massive turnout at Ambedkar Park, Tulsi Nagar, on Sunday, with thousands of workers from across the state demanding an end to the contractual and outsourcing system.
The movement’s president, Vasudev Sharma, declared that the agitation would continue until “unjust employment practices are abolished.” He announced that on 19 January 2025, lakhs of temporary and outsourced employees would move the High Court in Jabalpur, filing a public interest litigation demanding equal pay for equal work and an end to the contractor-driven employment system.
Sharma said, “This movement is the collective voice of lakhs of workers across Madhya Pradesh. The government must realise that good governance is impossible without respect for the labour that sustains it.” Citing a recent Supreme Court ruling, he added that engaging temporary employees at lower pay for regular duties amounted to exploitation and urged the state government to frame a policy guaranteeing fair wages and regularisation.
Later, a seven-member delegation led by Sharma met officials at the Chief Minister’s residence, submitting a 14-point memorandum seeking abolition of the contract system, implementation of equal pay for equal work, regularisation of temporary staff, and early recruitment to Class III and IV posts.
