Mumbai, (UNI) The Congress in Maharashtra on Sunday launched the ‘Shakti Abhiyan’ (empowerment campaign) for women’s empowerment across the state.
Talking to reporters here after launch of the campaign, Congress state president Nana Patole mentioned that as part of the Indira Gandhi Fellowship programme, the said campaign, which was started a year ago, has received a positive response from the state, he informed that the state unit of Congress will implement it with great strength.
Women like Ayesha Khan, Anushka Wankhade, Rohini Dhotre, Vijaya Durdhawale and Meena Dhodde from Maharashtra took participated in the campaign, he informed.
This campaign will be conducted at the district, taluka and block levels, he said that the purpose of this campaign is to bring women’s leadership to the forefront, he said.
While criticising the Modi government, the party president claimed that when the Modi government reintroduced this bill, the Congress party had supported it.
However, the Modi government has only passed the bill and not implemented the reservation, Patole alleged.
The Congress, on other hand, will ensure implementation of women’s reservation as soon as it comes to power, he added.
