Maha: Ajit Pawar pays tribute to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his birth anniversary

Mumbai, (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief minister Ajit Pawar on Thursday paid tributes to Kranti Surya Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his birth anniversary falling on April 11 (tomorrow).

In his message, Pawar stated that “Krantisurya Mahatma Jyotiba Phule fought successfully to eradicate evil practices like ignorance, injustice, immorality, superstition, oppression, untouchability, inequality from the Indian social system.

“He opened the doors of education for women by starting the first school in the country. He took the Ganga of education to the doorsteps of the Bahujans and provided development opportunities. He fought for the rights of farmers and labourers. He established a truth-seeking movement against undesirable customs and traditions. The awareness about social justice seen today, the confident movement of women in all fields, the advanced, progressive, reformist social system created in the country are the fruits of the foresight, sacrifices and hard work shown by Krantisurya Mahatma Jyotiba and Krantisurya Savitribai at that time,” he said.

Mahatma Jyotiba Phule did a great job of strengthening the foundation of an advanced, progressive, reformist, science-based India based on social justice, he added.
