Bhopal: On the initiative of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Madhav National Park in Shivpuri district has been declared a Tiger Reserve. The technical committee of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has approved the proposal to notify Madhav National Park as a tiger reserve. This will be the eighth tiger reserve of the state.
Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) L. Krishnamurthy said that the technical committee of NTCA has proposed that the core area of ??the tiger reserve will be 375 square kilometers, the buffer area will be 1276 square kilometers and the total area will be 1751 square kilometers. The committee has also approved the release of one male and one female tiger in the national park. On the instructions of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, a proposal was sent to the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) to declare Madhav National Park as a Tiger Reserve.
Shri Krishnamurthy said that the conservation initiative taken by the Madhya Pradesh government will strengthen wildlife management in Madhav National Park and Kuno National Park. This will provide the local communities with the desired eco-tourism benefits and will lead to the development of the area.
