New Delhi, Nov 25 (UNI) Member of Parliament (MP) from Jammu and Kashmir Engineer Rashid, arrested in a terror funding case, on Monday requested the Delhi court to grant interim bail to participate in the Parliament session.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Vimal Kumar Yadav after hearing the plea on behalf of Rashid directed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to file their response and adjourned the matter for November 27.
Rashid appeared in the court virtually from Tihar Jail and said, “I have been elected by my people. I was not allowed to attend the last session. With folded hands, I request you that I may be granted interim bail.”
The Judge, after hearing the plea, adjourned for November 27 for further hearing.
Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid, heading the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) is allegedly involved in a terror-funding case and recently surrendered after expiry of his interim bail. He was arrested under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in the month of August 2019.
