LPG cylinder shortage in Delhi’s Sadar Bazar triggers food crisis for daily wagers

New Delhi, March 16 (UNI) A shortage of LPG gas cylinders in the Sadar Bazar area has created a serious food crisis for daily wage workers.

Parmeet Singh Pamma, president of the Sadar Bazar Bari Market Traders Association, told UNI that LPG cylinder shortage has caused food crisis in Sadar Bazar.

He said due to the shortage of gas cylinders, many dhabas and small eateries in the area were on the verge of shutting down.

“At the same time, where food is still available, prices have increased significantly, making it difficult for workers to afford even two meals a day,” Pamma said.

Pamma said that most workers in Sadar Bazar depend on daily wages. With work opportunities already declining, their earnings have reduced, and the rising cost of food has made survival even more difficult.

He added that the situation has become so challenging that many workers are being forced to return to their native villages. He urged the government to ensure the immediate availability of LPG cylinders so that dhabas and small food outlets can resume normal operations and provide affordable meals to workers.
