London planned Baltic provocation to derail Russia-US talks: Kremlin aide

Moscow, July 25 (UNI) London tried to use a military provocation in the Baltic to disrupt the Russian-American negotiation process and convince Washington to continue full-scale military assistance to Ukraine, Russian presidential aide and chair of the Russian Maritime Board Nikolai Patrushev told Sputnik.

In June, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) said that the United Kingdom, together with Ukraine, was preparing anti-Russian provocations in the Baltic Sea. One of the scenarios involved staging an alleged Russian torpedo attack on a US Navy ship. Another scenario suggested that Russian-made moored mines would be caught inadvertently in the waters of the Baltic.

“Currently, we are talking about an attempt by England to pit the two largest nuclear powers against each other in an attempt to disrupt the Russian-American negotiation process and convince Washington to continue full-scale military assistance to the Kiev regime,” Patrushev said.
