Leopard captured in Niphad’s Devgaon area

Maharashtra, Jan 9 (UNI) Farmers are terrified due to the increased movement of a leopard in the Nandurshingote and Devgaon areas over the past few days. The sighting of the leopard during the daytime has affected agricultural work.

Farmers and residents have been spotting the leopard daily at various locations in the Nandgaon area, including Chas, Nalwadi, Kasarwadi, and Sonewadi in the Bhojapur Valley. This has created an atmosphere of fear among the farming community. Farmers have demanded that the Forest Department should install cages to capture the animal.

A leopard was captured around 9:00 pm on Thursday night at the residence of Yogesh Mahale, bringing a sigh of relief to farmers in the area.

Meanwhile, farmers have reported that there are three more leopards in the region. This is the second leopard to be captured in Niphad in just fifteen days.

The Niphad Forest Department, along with the Nirbhay Sanchar Mangalwar Foundation, had installed a cage in the area. After three days, a male leopard was trapped in the cage during the night.
