New Delhi, Dec 4 (UNI) Aam Aadmi Party’s National Convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday raised the issue of Delhi’s law and order situation in the Assembly, alleging that the city’s law and order has deteriorated significantly.
“The city is in the grip of criminals. Drugs are being sold openly in many areas. Murders are happening in broad daylight. Shootouts are taking place in public. Women are being subjected to atrocities. The BJP remains silent on this issue. When questioned, they claim that crime is not even an issue,” he alleged during the winter session of the Delhi Assembly.
Condemning the attack on Sukhbir Badal, Kejriwal said, “Today, a major tragedy was averted in Punjab. Someone attempted to shoot former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal. However, thanks to the alertness and commendable efforts of the Punjab Police, this major incident was prevented. Sukhbir Badal is safe, and I strongly condemn this incident.”
He praised the Punjab Police for their vigilance, saying, “This is a conspiracy by powerful forces to defame Punjab and Punjabis,” regarding the attack on Badal in the Delhi Assembly.
“While the BJP is raising the issue of law and order in Punjab, it remains silent on the murders, atrocities, and shootings happening in Delhi,” the former CM added.
The AAP National Convenor further said that women in Delhi are unsafe. “Gangsters are firing bullets at traders’ shops, yet the BJP fails to acknowledge this and claims that crime is not an issue in Delhi.”
“Home Minister Amit Shah doesn’t care about Delhi. This morning, a triple murder occurred in the city. I want to ask, does the safety of a common man not matter? I want to tell the BJP that no matter how many attacks you make on me, I will continue to raise the issue of Delhi’s security,” he asserted.
“Since Amit Shah became the Union Home Minister and took charge of Delhi’s law and order, the entire system has almost collapsed. I remained silent for a long time because I did not want to politicize this issue. However, as the situation gradually worsened instead of improving, I could no longer stay quiet. I have been meeting the people of Delhi and visiting places where incidents occur. People have told me that drugs are being sold openly in every corner of Delhi,” he said.
Kejriwal also alleged that during his tenure as Chief Minister, he was pressured to hand over Delhi’s power companies to Adani, which he claimed led to his imprisonment.
“My challenge to the BJP is that they should declare that if they come to power, they will not hand over the power companies to Adani,” he said.
The former CM further alleged, “The BJP has started a conspiracy to manipulate votes on a large scale in Delhi. I have proof and witnesses. Wait for two days, and I will expose you. I will tell the country how you won the elections in Maharashtra and Haryana. You did not win those elections honestly.”
