Largest thermal plant to be set up in MP

  • Centre issues coal linkage for 4100 MW plant
  • State government will receive an investment of Rs 25,000 crore

The largest thermal power plant will be set up in Madhya Pradesh. The Central Government has issued coal linkage for a 4100 MW thermal plant. Where this plant will be set up is not decided yet, for this the MP Power Generating Company will select the location. The largest plant in the state till date is Sasan Power Project which is in the private sector. The capacity of this plant is 3960 MW.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that new thermal power stations will be set up to accelerate industrial development in Madhya Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved coal allocation for coal-based power generation. Thermal power stations will be set up for 4100 MW power generation. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav thanked Prime Minister Modi and said that he has given opportunities of progress to all the departments.

Investment of Rs. 25 thousand crores will be received

On 27 November, the high level inter-departmental committee of the Government of India approved the allocation of coal for setting up a new thermal power plant of a total of 4100 MW on the basis of the presentation of the Energy Department of Madhya Pradesh. In this regard, a tender will be issued by the Energy Department of the state for setting up the plant. This will lead to an investment of about Rs. 25 thousand crores. Along with this, thousands of youth will get direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Coal allocation will work as a lifesaver

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that we are still in a surplus situation in the field of power generation, but as a result of the establishment of new industries for industrial development, the consumption of electricity is also increasing continuously. From the future point of view also, we will need new thermal power stations. This coal allocation will work as a lifesaver in that.
