Lalitpur (UP), Jan 22 (UNI) A court in Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday issued summons to senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for allegedly using unparliamentary language.
The court of Civil Judge (Senior Division) Mayank Jaiswal ordered Rahul to either appear in person or through his lawyer on February 14. If no one appears, the case will be disposed of ex parte.
The court issued this summon on an application of advocate Bhagwat Prasad Pathak.
The application alleges that on November 22, 2023, during the assembly elections in Rajasthan, the Congress leader used abusive words against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a public meeting held in Barmer. The petitioner had requested the court to ban such unparliamentary language and fix a decree of Rs 5.5 lakh and get it from Rahul.
