- Used to pickpocket tourists at Gwalior fair
Chronicle Reporter, Gwalior
Gwalior police have busted a notorious lady gang from Agra that specialized in pickpocketing at the city’s grand fair. The gang, comprising three women, traveled from Agra to Gwalior, targeting unsuspecting visitors. Acting on a tip-off, the police nabbed the suspects and seized shaving and surgical blades from them.
Authorities were alerted when informants reported three women discussing theft plans near the fairground parking. As soon as the police arrived, the suspects attempted to flee but were swiftly captured. Upon interrogation, they identified themselves as Neetu Koli, Sunaina Rao Maratha, and Aarti Hona, all residents of Shahganj, Agra. Suspicion grew when they failed to provide valid identification. A search of their bags revealed wallets, an open blade, and surgical tools—classic tools of the trade for pickpockets.
Further investigation led the police to their hideout, where they discovered over 25 stolen handbags belonging to fairgoers. The gang admitted to staying with relatives in Jalalpur while executing their thefts in local transport vehicles.
Currently, all three women face theft charges, and police are probing further to uncover more links in their criminal network.
