Bhopal: A protest erupted in Bhopal after a construction worker, Roopsingh Ahirwar, died from a fall at a four-story commercial building in the Sheetal Dham area. His family and local residents allege a severe lack of safety measures at the site, stating the worker was not provided with a safety harness, helmet, or protective nets.
Witnesses claim the fall was a direct result of the negligence. Shockingly, the builder, Ravi Kumar, the owner, Shashank Dubey, and the contractor, Shivendra Mehra, failed to appear at the scene. In a desperate plea for justice, Ahirwar’s family staged a five-hour vigil on top of the building with his body, refusing to move until authorities intervened.
The family has demanded that an FIR be filed and strict action be taken against all three individuals for what they call a clear act of criminal negligence. The incident has cast a harsh light on worker safety standards and the accountability of those in the construction business.
