Bhopal: A labourer was swept away in an overflowing drain in Katara Hills area on Monday night. During the search, his body was recovered about one kilometer away from the spot on Tuesday morning. The body was found stuck near a bush. At the time of the incident, three labourers were returning home from the market, when one of them fell victim to the accident while crossing the drain. The police have registered a case and sent the body for postmortem.
According to the police, Rambhajan, son of Budhdaas (35), was originally a resident of village Bossidevari, police station Shahpur, district Dindori. He lived in a slum in the Baghsewania area and worked as a labourer in the under-construction Wellness Shia Colony of Asnani Builders. After finishing work on Monday, Rambhajan had gone to Katara vegetable market with his two other fellow labourers Ramlal and Nilesh to buy goods. At that time, there was not much water in the drain on the way from Katara to Bagli village, so the three workers crossed the drain and reached the market.
When they returned at around 8 pm, the drain was completely full and overflowing. There was a strong current in the water as well. Despite this, the three workers started crossing the drain, when Rambhajan lost his balance and was swept away in the drain. The police got the information at 3 am. On Tuesday morning at around 11 am, the body of Rambhajan was found stuck in the bushes near Santosha Colony in village Bagli, about a kilometer ahead of the incident. The contractor and family members who reached the spot identified the deceased.
