KTR targets Congress over ‘broken promises’ during Sircilla campaign

Rajanna Sircilla, Feb 5 (UNI) BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the Congress government, accusing it of unfulfilled promises and deceptive politics.

Participating in the municipal election campaign in Sircilla, KTR questioned Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s statement that Rythu Bandhu assistance would be disbursed after the municipal elections.

He asked how many crop seasons had passed without payments and how the elections were preventing the government from crediting money to farmers’ accounts. He alleged that such statements were intended to create false hope among the people until the polls were over.

Accusing the Congress of coming to power with “reckless promises,” KTR said welfare schemes such as Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak had been sidelined and not a single assurance made to the people had been implemented in the last two years. He warned that trusting the Congress again in the municipal elections would only lead to further betrayal.

KTR questioned the need for the Chief Minister to repeatedly criticise former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) instead of focusing on governance. He alleged that the Congress government had failed to do anything constructive except indulge in criticism and falsehoods.

He also accused the Congress of conspiring to abolish the smaller districts created during KCR’s tenure and urged voters to seriously consider the party’s statements on district reorganisation before casting their ballots.

Calling the municipal polls a contest between a party that delivered welfare and development for a decade and a government that dismantled schemes within two years, KTR said only by bringing KCR back as Chief Minister could development and welfare resume, beginning with these municipal elections.

He asserted that the municipal elections were an opportunity to question and hold the Congress accountable for broken promises, warning that failure to do so would allow the party to continue what he described as deceptive practices until the next Assembly elections.
