Dubai, Mar 4 (UNI) Virat Kohli has further strengthened his stature as one of the most consistent performers in ICC ODI tournaments, registering the most 50-plus scores in such events.
Kohli has notched up 24 fifties or more in just 53 innings, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who had 23 such scores in 58 innings. Rohit Sharma follows with 18 fifty-plus scores in 42 innings, while Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara (17 in 56 innings) and Australia’s Ricky Ponting (16 in 60 innings) round off the top five.
In run-chases, Kohli remains unparalleled with an astonishing average of 64.54, making him the only player among 237 cricketers with at least 1,000 runs in ODI chases to maintain a 60-plus average.
Kohli’s tally of 8,003 runs in chases is second only to Tendulkar’s 8,720 runs (42.33 avg). Rohit Sharma has aggregated 6,115 runs at an average of 49.71, while Sanath Jayasuriya (5,742 runs at 29.44) and Jacques Kallis (5,575 runs at 44.95) complete the top five run-getters in ODI chases.
Meanwhile, Kohli and Shreyas Iyer have emerged as a formidable pair in ODIs, amassing 1,670 runs in 31 innings at an impressive average of 55.66. Their partnership has yielded six half-century stands and seven century partnerships, with a scoring rate of 5.88 runs per over.
