New Delhi, July 3 (UNI) Star hurdler Jyothi Yarraji’s 2025 athletics season ended abruptly after she sustained a knee injury during training.
Yarraji shared this unfortunate news in an Instagram post on Wednesday “Due to an unfortunate injury to my knee during training a few days back, I’ve had to put a pause on my season,” . “I’m working with my medical team to assess my options and take a decision on the way forward.”
She promised that she will bounce back stronger “Injuries are part of an athlete’s journey and I’m viewing this as just another hurdle I’m going to overcome soon with all your support and blessings. I’ll be back stronger,”.
Former Athletics Federation of India (AFI) president Dr Adille J Sumariwalla has confirmed that the injury will require surgery which will sideline Jyothi for the entire season.
Jyothi Yarraji was last seen in action at the Taiwan Athletics Open in June where she secured the gold medal after clocking 12.99s.
Jyothi is also the reigning women’s 100m hurdles Asian champion.
Her injury also means that she will be unable to compete at the 2025 World Athletics Championships, which will be played from September 13 to 21 in Tokyo.
