New Delhi, Aug 5 (UNI) Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra today expressed deep sorrow over the cloudburst in Dharali (Uttarkashi), Uttarakhand, which has led to the loss of several lives and many people missing.
Describing the devastation as “heartbreaking” Kharge on X said, “The devastation caused by the cloudburst in Dharali (Uttarkashi), Uttarakhand, is truly heartbreaking. Many lives have been lost, and several people are missing. Entire families have been uprooted”.
Kharge extended his condolences to the victims’ families and appealed to the government and administration to expedite rescue efforts.
“My deepest condolences to those affected by this terrible tragedy, and I pray for the safe return of those who are missing. I appeal to my government and the administration to expedite the relief and rescue operations, and to deploy additional NDRF teams if needed,” he added.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi said, “The news of severe devastation caused by a cloudburst in Dharali, Uttarakhand, leading to the death of several people and many others going missing, is extremely tragic and concerning”.
Extending condolences, RahuI said, “I extend my deepest condolences to the affected families and hope for the swift recovery of the missing individuals”.
Emphasising the urgency of the situation, he appealed to Congress leaders and workers to support the administration in relief efforts and assist those affected in every possible way.
Echoing these sentiments, Wayanad MP, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “The news of the cloudburst incident in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, resulting in the death of some individuals and a large number of people going missing, is deeply saddening”.
“May God grant peace to the departed souls. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the safe return of the missing individuals,” Priyanka said.
She appealed to the state government to provide immediate assistance, relief, and compensation to the victims and also urged the Congress leaders and workers to extend all possible help in the relief and rescue operations.
