Kharge, Rahul pay tribute to teachers and Dr Radhakrishnan on Teacher’s Day

New Delhi, Sept 5 (UNI) On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi today paid heartfelt tributes to teachers across the nation and remembered the contributions of former President of India and renowned philosopher, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
Mallikarjun Kharge on X emphasised the transformative role of teachers in shaping society.
Throughout history, gurus — or teachers — have been celebrated for their vital role in shaping society. “More than just educators, they are considered true nation-builders,” he said.
Lauding the teachers, Kharge said, “They not only impart knowledge to individuals but also guide future generations toward a path of truth, honesty, and integrity. By instilling values like patriotism, hard work, dedication, justice, and equality, they play a crucial role in building the character of a nation’s future.”
He further said, “This Teachers Day, we express our sincere gratitude to these nation builders. We also pay tribute to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the former President of India, a philosopher and statesman whose wisdom, dedication, and contributions continue to inspire generations.”
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi extended his respects on the birth anniversary of Dr Radhakrishnan. “On the birth anniversary of India’s former President, the great philosopher Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan ji, I pay my humble respects to him.”
“The contribution of teachers in life is unparalleled. They shape the future of students by imparting lessons in discipline, respect, and equality, and through education, they build a strong foundation for society,” Gandhi said.
“Heartfelt salutations to all gurus and warm wishes on Teacher’s Day,” he added.
Every year on September 5, Teacher’s Day is observed to mark the birth anniversary of Dr S Radhakrishnan and to recognise the significant contributions teachers make in shaping both individuals and the nation.
