New Delhi, Dec 16 (UNI) Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demanded apology from him for ‘misleading the country by twisting Nehru’s letter to states.’
Participating in the debate on 75 years of journey of Constitution in the Upper House, Kharge said that PM Modi lives either in the past or imagination and not in the present.
It would have been better had he talked about his achievements in the last 10 years,” the LoP said referring to PM’s speech in the Lok Sabha on December 14 while replying to the debate on the Constitution.
Taking a dig at the ruling party members, he said that those who hated the tricolour and the Constitution are now teaching lessons to the Congress.
“The whole country knows that in 1949, RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) leaders had opposed the Constitution of India because it was not based on Manusmriti,” the Congress President said.
Kharge alleged, “Jansangh, RSS and you (BJP) wanted to have a Constitution on the basis of Manusmriti.”
The LoP also alleged that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is against reservation and therefore opposing caste census.
Kharge said that BJP keeps giving ‘jumlas’ (slogans) to befool the people of the country.
