‘Khalid Ka Shivaji’ screening halted

Satara, Aug 13 (UNI) The screening of the upcoming film ‘Khalid Ka Shivaji’ has been suspended for a month following allegations that its teaser is an attempt to create communal tension between the Maratha and Muslim communities.

The decision came after Annasaheb Patil Economic Development Corporation Chairman Narendra Patil raised the issue with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Patil alleged that the film was slated for release before Ganeshotsav with the malicious intent of provoking conflict between the two communities.

Following Patil’s plea, the Chief Minister ordered a one-month suspension of the film’s release. Patil expressed confidence that the Chief Minister would take strict action against those attempting to sow discord.

Patil also urged the Home Department to form a special investigation team to probe the true motives behind the film and identify all those involved in its production.

Directed by Raj Pritam More, the film features Priyadarshan Jadhav, Bharat Ganeshpure, Sushma Deshpande, Kailas Waghmare, and Snehalata Tagade in pivotal roles. While the film’s trailer was recently released, its screening has now been postponed.
