Kejriwal sends ‘chadar’ for Ajmer Sharif Urs

New Delhi, Dec 26 (UNI) A ‘chadar’ on behalf of AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal has been sent for the 814th annual Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti at Ajmer Sharif on Friday.

According to former Delhi State Urs Committee chairman F. I. Ismaili, Kejriwal offered prayers for peace, communal harmony, and for India’s progress.

The Urs marks the death anniversary of the Sufi saint and traditionally draws hundreds of thousands of devotees from across the country. For the past decade, a transit camp has been organized at Delhi’s Burari Ground to provide facilities for pilgrims traveling to Ajmer from various states.

Ismaili confirmed that the camp was set up this year as well, continuing the practice established during the previous AAP government’s tenure and maintained by the current administration.

The camp reportedly offers medical facilities, a marketplace, and langar, with around 50 large cauldrons of food being distributed daily. Ismaili noted that over 475 buses carrying devotees had passed through Delhi this year, though some were redirected straight to Ajmer due to pollution control regulations.

The former chairman stated that devotees, including Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians, use the Delhi camp as a stop to also visit other local dargahs before proceeding to Ajmer.
