Kapil Sharma’s Canada Cafe attacker arrested; Delhi Police uncover Pakistan ISI links

New Delhi Nov 28 (UNI) In a major international breakthrough, the Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested Bandhu Man Singh Sekhon (28), the alleged mastermind behind the shooting incidents at comedian Kapil Sharma’s café, Caps Cafe, in Surrey, Canada.

Sekhon, a resident of Ludhiana, Punjab, was arrested between the night of November 24 and 25 by a team led by Inspectors Man Singh, Arvind Singh, and Sunder Gautam. Police said Sekhon had fled Canada in September following action by Canadian authorities, while several of his associates had already been detained.

The investigation gained momentum after the arrest of two individuals in Delhi Mandeep Singh and Dalvinder Kumar, from whom eight foreign-made pistols and 84 live cartridges were recovered. Interrogation revealed that one of these pistols had been supplied to Sekhon, confirming his involvement in an inter-state and cross-border weapons smuggling network.

A special team under ACP Sanjay Nagpal and DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav tracked Sekhon using technical surveillance and intelligence inputs. Sekhon was arrested at a ‘input base’ in Ludhiana. During interrogation, he disclosed information about an illegal weapon hidden in his car. The police subsequently recovered a China-made PX-3 model semi-automatic pistol and 8 live cartridges from the vehicle.

During the Delhi Police Crime Branch’s interrogation, Bandhu Man Singh confessed to playing the role of the main executor in the shootings at Kapil Sharma’s café. He assisted in planning, providing logistical support, and ensuring the attacks were carried out. The café was targeted in three separate incidents on July 10, August 7, October 16 after its opening in July 2025.

While no injuries were reported in any of the shootings, the café suffered significant property damage, raising serious security concerns. Responsibility for these attacks had been claimed by gangsters Goldy Dhillon and Kulvir Sidhu, among other criminals.

“It was revealed during investigations that Sekhon had gone to Canada on an employment visa in September 2023. There, he came into contact with the Goldy Dhillon gang and quickly became a key operative. Sekhon was previously associated with the Harry Chatha gang and had cases of conspiracy and illegal weapon possession registered against him in Canada,” police said. When his name emerged as the main conspirator following the arrest of an associate in Canada, he returned to India in September to avoid capture.

The Delhi Police confirmed that Sekhon was involved in all aspects of the Surrey shooting, including logistical support ,p roviding the car used in the incident ,arranging for the car to be parked after the crime.

It was through the trail of this arms deal that the Delhi Police managed to connect the dots back to the gangsters. “This arrest makes it clear that gangsters based abroad are receiving comprehensive support including from Pakistan-based gangsters and Pakistani arms dealers to Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI,” Police official said.
