Bhopal: A fraudster posing as the director of a security company has allegedly duped a job seeker of Rs 80,000 by falsely promising a security guard position at AIIMS Bhopal, one of the city’s major government hospitals.

Victim Raghvendra Singh met the accused, Than Singh, who introduced himself as the head of a firm that supplies guards to AIIMS. He assured Raghvendra of a confirmed job for a fee of Rs 80,000, claiming that the company would even provide the uniform. Trusting him, Raghvendra paid Rs 20,000 in advance in December 2024, handing over the money near Center Point.

Than Singh assured him the job would begin by October. However, when the promised employment failed to materialize and the accused began dodging calls with vague excuses, Raghvendra grew suspicious. He eventually approached AIIMS directly, only to discover there was no such job or recruitment drive.

Realizing he had been scammed, Raghvendra filed a complaint at Jahangirabad Police Station. After preliminary investigation, an FIR was registered. Police have launched a search for Than Singh, who is currently absconding.
