Srinagar, Feb 26 (UNI) Hurriyat Chairman and Kashmir’s Chief Cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq greeted the Kashmiri Pandits on the occasion of Herath or Shivratri being celebrated with religious fervour in the Valley on Wednesday.
Taking to his social media platform X, Mirwaiz posted “Warm greetings to our Kashmiri pandit brethren on the occasion of Herath”.
“Pray for the restoration of the bond of love and coexistence that is an inherent component of our shared heritage”, he added.
Traditionally in Kashmir, Shivratri is locally known as Herath and on the occasion, the members from the other community greet the Kashmiri Pandits on the occasion.
Recently, in a significant initiative aimed at ensuring return of displaced Kashmiri Pandits to the valley, an Inter-Community Committee (ICC) has been proposed to be formed and headed by the Mirwaiz of Kashmir.
An understanding in this regard was reached during Mirwaiz’s recent visit to Delhi between representatives of JK Peace Forum represented by the Kashmiri Pandits.
