Jaishankar arrives in Moscow for Inter-Governmental Commission meeting

New Delhi, Aug 19 (UNI) External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar arrived in Moscow this evening on a three-day official visit for discussions on further strengthening cooperation in several areas including
trade, economy, science and technology and culture.

The External Affairs Minister who is in Moscow at the invitation of Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, will co-chair the 26th Session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC) tomorrow.

‘’The visit aims to further strengthen the longstanding and time-tested India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership,’’ the External Affairs Ministry said.

He will also have a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and address the India-Russia Business Forum meeting. ‘’During the visit, EAM will also meet Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and review the bilateral agenda and share perspective on regional and global issues,’’ External Affairs Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal announced.

The current global situation in the wake of the Tariff war by United States and Ukraine developments are also likely to come up during the meeting between Lavrov and Jaishankar. Other regional and global developments of mutual interest will be discussed.
