- Dispute with neighbors had escalated to threats
Bhopal: On Tuesday afternoon, tragedy struck when Abhishek Ojha, a 22-year-old nephew of a jail guard, died of suicide by hanging himself in the jail colony within Bhopal’s Central Jail premises. His body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem on Wednesday, where they raised serious allegations regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.
The family claims that a recent dispute over a buffalo with neighbors escalated to threats against Abhishek’s life. According to his father, Jagdish Ojha, tensions had flared when Abhishek’s buffalo slightly injured a neighbor named Rahul. Following this, Rahul and his father, Puran, allegedly confronted Abhishek while armed, threatening to kill him.
Two days prior to the incident, Abhishek had been staying at his uncle Brijesh Kumar Ojha’s house. On the day of the tragedy, after his uncle left for work, Abhishek reportedly made a noose from a ceiling fan and took his life. His uncle discovered him hanging.
The Gandhi Nagar police have registered a case and initiated an investigation, while the family demands justice and action against those they believe contributed to Abhishek’s distress.
