Jagran Lakecity University Hosts Brown Mosten International Client Counselling Competition National Rounds

Bhopal: Jagran Lakecity University (JLU) inaugurated the Brown Mosten International Client Consultation Competition 2026 National Selection Rounds (India), a globally acclaimed client-counselling contest conducted under the aegis of the International Bar Association. The event has drawn participation from leading National Law Schools, Central and State Universities, and other prominent law institutions from across the country.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp. Prof. (Dr) Sachin Rastogi, Dean, Faculty of Law, welcomed the gathering and encouraged the participating teams, underscoring the importance of experiential learning and client-centred lawyering in contemporary legal practice.

Chief Guest Justice Rohit Arya, former Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, described client counselling as a foundational legal skill rooted in empathy, ethics and communication. He remarked that effective lawyering begins with listening and trust rather than mere argument, calling the client the lifeline of advocacy.

The ceremony was also attended by the National Coordinators of the competition, Prof. (Dr) M.R.K. Prasad and Dr Sandhya Ram. Prof. Prasad highlighted the global legacy and significance of the competition. The event briefing was delivered by Saif Hussain, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Yash Tiwari, Convenor, who acknowledged the support of dignitaries, the organising committee including Ms Parul Asthana, Ms Meenakshi Dangi and Neeraj Singh, participants and students. The inaugural programme was graced by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr Vivek Khare, Registrar Pankaj Das and other distinguished university officials.

The competition will run from 6 to 8 February, with the winning team earning the honour of representing India at the International Rounds in Zagreb, Croatia.
