Italy wins, China third in mixed 3m synchro at Singapore Worlds

Singapore, July 30 (UNI) Italy’s Chiara Pellacani and Matteo Santoro claimed the gold medal in the mixed 3-meter synchronized springboard at the World Aquatics Championships today, as China missed out on the title in this non-Olympic event.

On the fifth day of diving at the championships, China’s Li Yajie and Cheng Zilong settled for the bronze medal with a score of 305.70 points, following a costly mistake in their fourth-round dive.

Italy’s Pellacani and Santoro, silver medalists at last year’s Doha Worlds, delivered a consistent series of dives to take top spot with 308.13 points.

Cassiel Rousseau and Maddison Keeney of Australia finished just behind with 307.26 points to claim silver. This marks the second time China has missed out on gold in diving at the Singapore Worlds, following the women’s one-meter springboard earlier in the tournament. Neither event features in the Olympic program.

Earlier in the day, Chen Yuxi and Xie Peiling advanced to the women’s 10-meter platform final after placing first and second respectively in the preliminary round. The final will be held on Thursday.
