- Moong procurement, started under pressure and short assembly session, an attempts to suppress voice of people
Bhopal: The Congress party has launched a fierce attack on the Madhya Pradesh government, accusing it of deceiving farmers and undermining democracy. Senior leader Umang Singhar criticized the administration’s handling of moong procurement, stating that slow registration and widespread irregularities prove the government’s intentions are insincere despite pressure from the opposition.
Lack of accountability and legislative evasion
Taking to social media, Singhar accused the government of trying to avoid accountability by intentionally shortening the state assembly session. He tweeted that a short session is “the murder of democracy,” as it prevents the opposition from raising public issues and holding the government answerable for corruption allegations. Other Congress leaders have echoed this sentiment, calling it a deliberate strategy to silence dissent and deflect from critical public matters.
Deteriorating law and order
The opposition also raised serious concerns about the state’s law and order situation. Congress leaders alleged that the state is being run as a “police state,” with false cases being filed to target citizens and opposition representatives. They criticized the Chief Minister for failing to manage the Home Department, which he holds, while crime continues to rise. The party has demanded the repeal of the dacoity act in the Chambal region, arguing it is now used to harass innocent people, and accused the government of filing false cases against opposition MLAs to suppress their voices.
